Subject:  passports
Message:  There has been some lively discussions rearding passports. While Barbados is not St Martin effective March 1, 2004 passports are required for entry. This may set the tone for changes in other Caribbean nations. On the State Dpt web page http://travel.state.gov/travel_warnings.html you will find under French West Indies that a passport is required for entry. The French West Indies consist of Martinique, Guadeloupe, St Martin(French side) and St Barthelemy. This page also states that a passport is not required for entry into the Netherlands Antilles which includes St Marteen(Dutch side.) All of us that have been to Orient Beach know that entry is usually at Princess Julianna Airport on the Dutch side and there are no check points at the border between the Dutch and French sides.
So the question remains is a passport worth the cost? The current cost is $85.00 ($55.00 renewal) and is valid for ten years.
I vote yes.
Any comments?
