| Message: | First of all we want to thank Dee, Tom, Sierra Man, Thom, Billy, Elroy, Mel, Lahts and others who have shared their appreciation for the photos we posted on Orient Beach, Cupecoy and Getting Ready for Papagayos. Your remarks made us smile and were encouraging. We still want to preserve some anonymity so we will not be sharing with you our names. To Mel … yes we do go to SXM around New Years. I am sorry that your wife did not feel comfortable in asking about my lace outfit on NYE. My husband purchased it for me from http://www.CaribbeanWraps.com or http://www.Allyouneedtowear.com. It was part of the wedding pareo collection. We had to laugh at your description of me on the beach. It does feel like home for me now, but we have been going for only a few short years. Last year some of our friends called me the "Queen of the Beach", if you use that name when you go back you might find us as it is a play of words on my name. To Patt… Yes dear, I know that my butt is wider than it used to be 20 years ago and the truth be told my breasts do sag some after breastfeeding three children. What you don’t understand is that at a naturist beach these things do not matter. I have experienced true body acceptance and great personal freedom with my venture into naturism, something I did not expect and something I was truly surprised to find. Just a few years ago I was too self-conscious to wear anything less than a one-piece suit. Through my trips to Orient Beach I have discovered that beauty is a state of mind. After a few days on the beach, nude and in the sun and I feel the most beautiful I have ever felt in my life. That is what is important, how a person feels inside about herself and her own body image and Orient Beach has helped me with my own… It is not about exhibitionism… It is not about being a slut or trashy. It might surprise you but I probably go to church more than most and I am faithful in my marriage and I know that my husband is faithful to me. We are not sure where you get the idea that all nudists are swingers, as that does not match our experience at all. Our naturist friends, especially the ones we know from Club Orient are all devoted couples with strong marriages. Third to Dee: Thank you on the compliments on the dress. It is part of my transformation that I talk about above. I purchased that dress in a small linen and clothing shop on Front Street in Philipsburg. It was on our second trip to SXM in 2001. The store is located on the same side of the street as Trident Jewelers and within a couple of stores on either side if we remember correctly. They had some this last year when we shopped, but the supply is limited and the colors vary. When we went into Phillipsburg that year we found a store that sold some lace items (mostly linens and things) In that store was a lace dress that had no lining, sequins and some bright colored crystals sewn into the pattern of lace... It covers nothing while at the same time gives lots of sparkle and grace. We bought it for me and I wore it at the wine and cheese party. I had many doubts before we went to the party, almost chickened out as my nipples poked through the holes of the lace in a way that I thought was a little "over the edge"... but everybody, especially the women who spoke with me at the wine and cheese party raved about the dress and many asked where we purchased it. To all of you who wonder why we posted. To our friends who recognize us, you might be wondering why we posted these photos at all. Part of the reason we posted is that we were tired of the voyeur sneak shots of people’s boobs and crotches with no background and no context, (and no heads). The vast majority of the photos that are like that are missing the entire point of being nude on the beach. They only play into the idea that something titillating and sexual is going on when in 99% of the cases it is not. We do not feel that many of the photos have accurately told the true story of what people might expect to find as a naturist on Orient Beach. Orient Beach is not a Hedonism nor destination for sexual fantasies. It is a family beach where some people exercise their privilege to go nude. We wanted to post pictures that told this story. We wanted to show a visual collage of people relaxing the beach naturally, playing in the waves, building castles in the sand, swimming, walking, and doing all the things that normal families do on a beach. Because we diligently preserve the privacy of our friends and others on Orient Beach, we would not post the pictures of others, so we posted pictures of ourselves. The photographer has only a few shots of himself, as the model does not like taking pictures, so most of them shared are of her. We have discovered a wonderful group of human beings at Club Orient. We have met families who have raised their children there. We have met people who have become life-long friends. Most, if not all, have been people of integrity, openness, warmth and genuinely kind. We have come to appreciate that being nude is part of the reason why people are so open and so friendly. There are no pretenses and no putting on airs. People seem to be more real and that makes for some wonderful friendships and great times. On the beach we have sat next to children and babies playing with their moms and with people in their 90’s walking hand in hand with their spouses. We have seen partners where one is confined to a wheel chair and the other lovingly giving them care. We have seen people of all ages, different sexual orientation, races, in shape, out of shape, scarred and young and beautiful and 99% have been very friendly and fun to be with. That is the Orient Beach we want people to know about. Another part of it is very personal and part of the journey from body shame to feeling and being freer. It might be hard to imagine that 5-6 years ago the model used to get undressed in the dark, not letting even her photographer/husband see her nude when the lights were on. Our times on Orient Beach helped her discover her own beauty and freedom as a perfectly created child of God. We wish that others might find their own freedom and inner beauty on the beach. Thanks again for your comments and compliments. We may be posting some more in the future and hope that our photos have encouraged others to share theirs. The model and her photographer |
