Posted - 11/04/2009 : 18:52:39 We are going to OB for the first time and will likely stay at Club O. However, before we make our reservations I wanted to make one last attempt at finding a Villa near club O. Does anyone know of one less than 1/2-mile from Club O? I think 1/2 mile may even be too long but worth some consideration.
Second question - I noticed a hot tub on the Club O website. What room has the hot tub and if I decide to stay in the mini suite and you have the room with the hot tub, would you let my wife and I use it?
Third question - how warm is the water in Jan. and how warm are the nights in Jan?
Thanks,
Rookies

Posted - 11/05/2009 : 18:55:05 we rent an "apartment" in Orient Village behind Bikini, plenty of room and lots of choices of places to eat. A 10 min walk to club O.

Posted - 11/05/2009 : 01:01:32 depends on what your definition of a 'villa' is. The closest true villas are all about 1/2 mile away, mine, Dannan's etc. they are all similar more or less, private pools, some bigger some not, some with larger pools. most are 2-3 bedrooms, some will close the third bedroom if you don't need it etc.
about 1/4 mile away are some units in the village which are more like condos, they are not free standing etc. share walls, not sure the correct term for them
There is a large wasteland just north of Club O, over the last ten years they have been moving closer and closer with development in the village but have not gotten past the security gate for the beach road. The villas were built all up the hill from the village. These units across from Kakao-Bikini- etc include some hotels, independent units etc.
La Plantation sort of marks where the first villas are, Green cay and Club Fantastico with other free villas scattered in the areas in between. There is no easy way to get to the nude part of the beach without driving down to the village area, then right behind the beach bars Bikini Wi-ki-ki (sp?) Kakao, through the security gate, behind the old Baywatch, Sexy Fruit, and Pedros. higher villas like mine it is actually quicker to drive farther to the top gate, down the road and then to club O from the back.
I guess some of the property near Esmerelda could be called villas in a sense, don't go down that road very often anymore, but you are now north of town and still farther from the Club O beach.

Posted - 11/04/2009 : 21:50:37 my villa is just about 1/2 mile from club O, and has a private pool. no hot tub. ocean is a bit cool, but still warmer than in ocean city, md. in the summer.
villa "Joie de Vie" - walk to orient beach, it's just a few steps from the villa.

Posted - 11/04/2009 : 21:35:29 We were there last January and the water was comfortable (and I get cold easily!!). There were nights that with the cool breeze off the water I needed a light sweater to cover my arms, but otherwise everything was plenty warm. Lots of naked swimming!!! Had rain move in most mornings at that time of year, but it would clear out by 10a and then we were good to go for the day. If you stay at Club O, buy your groceries (prices are lower on the Dutch side) and make your breakfast and lunch in the room. Sorry I can't help you on any villas close by...hot tubs would be nice, but then so is being naked all the time. Cheers!

Posted - 11/04/2009 : 20:17:58 Lol,lol, lol Your funny. There is no hot tub at Club O. Sure wish there was but alas none. You might have seen the pool (unheated) at the "villa" in Club O. As far as using the pool, make friends with who ever has the villa....
