Well, it's already Tuesday morning, and so far, this trip could not be better. It's been sunny and hot since we got here. Orient beach is as wide as i've ever seen it, and it's pretty busy, especially on the Club O side. But overall, it's pretty similar to August, which is our ususal time.
Restaurants so far have been Papagayo, Le Pub and Calmos Cafe, all very good. Tonight, we are suppose to head over to the Buccaneer Beach Bar.
So, time to head back to the beach.....!!!

Another great day on Wednesday, and today looks more of the same. So far, since last Friday, we have had about 20 minutes of rain during the day, so the beach days have been wonderful. We have met some new people this trip, since we are usually August visitors. All great people.
Last night, we had dinner at Cito's. They had just re-opened after a 2 week vacation, so there was a limited menu, but the food was great. First time for us there, and we will re-visit next trip. Tonight, plan is for dinner at Pineapple Pete's, as tomorrow is Tiko Tiko day, so no plans of driving anywere after that, so it will be Papagayo.
And Saturday, it will be a bit day on Orient, parade, party in the daytime at Baywatch, and evening party at Papagayo , with all you can eat BBQ and bondfire....
I wanted to try and post some pictures daily, buy you know, sand, drinks....so, pictures will be when i get back home.
Back to the beach...!!! |

Well, it's 6pm, and we are just getting off the beach. So that alone, tells you it was another fantastik day on Orient. We had pizza from Orange Fever, a new beach bar on Orient, just next to Baywatch and Chez Leandre. Very good, so any of you coming down, i strongly suggest it.
It was sunny all day, and hot again. A bit more of a breeze made it very comfortable.
Just now getting ready to head out to Pineapple Pete's for Lobster Thermador....
Tomorrow morning, our much anticipated day on the Tiko. We have a group of 15, and it will be a fun filled day. As there will be many drinks involved, plan is to stay in at Papagayo, for mussles and lobster....
Another update on Friday...!!! |

| PARADISE FOUND! Our flights down yesterday from Phly, including our connection through Charlotte were great. Arrived in SXM right on time. Unity rental was excellent as always. Because of only having carry on, we were off the plane in minutes and our driver from Unity was waiting. By the time they transferred our bags to the car I had the paperwork signed and we were on our way. A 45 min stop at the supermarket and on to Club O. We had to miss last year because of moving and were amazed to see the new road. Reading the posts we expected the beach to be large but it is gigantic! We had our first drinks from Willy at the Perch before she closed and looking out on the water we knew we had once again found paradise. Within minutes we were reconnecting with old friends. As always on our first night down we had dinner at the Papagayos. For all those at home living vicariously like we do 50 weeks out of the year, your day will come. For us, we are looking forward to the July 4th festivities |

| July 4th a BIG success. This was our first time making the 4th festivities at Club O. We usually arrive in mid July but this year we arrived on the 3rd in order to enjoy the fun. The parade was a blast. My better half wanted to stop at the rocks at Pedros but once in full parade mode she relented and stayed with the group for the duration of the parade. I am not sure of the exact participant count but I believe it was where in the mid 90s. The party at Papagayos was an unqualified success. In all our years coming to Club O we have never witnessed such a successful party. The food buffet was excellent and the dancing was nonstop. Everyone commented that the management and staff did a wonderful job. Our party hats are off to you! |

Great day on the TIKO-TIKO. Mondays cruise on the Tiko-Tiko was a spectacular day. This was out 5th time sailing with Philippe and as usual we had a great group of people, many of them old friends. The weather conditions were perfect and the rum punch started to flow as soon as Philippes beautiful first mate cast off the anchor lines. The run over to Tintamarrre encountered just enough waves to make it fun. As we approached the island there were two large boats full of people but either we ran them off or they were finished with their visit. Other than one small group, we had the beach to ourselves. We started the morning by playing beach bocce. I am not sure which team won but the score was close at the end. The biggest hardship of the morning was that we ran out of rum punch several times and had to solicit volunteers to swim back to the Tiko for replenishment. (Thanks Tim & Tracy) After properly fortifying ourselves many of us made the hike into the island. After a thoroughly exhausting 15 minute trek, its amazing how rum punch and beer will cut down your stamina, we reached the other side of the island and took a dip in the slightly warmer water. Realizing that we hadnt had a drink in over 20 minutes, we hightailed it back to the main beach and replenished as to not allow our blood alcohol level to dip dangerously low (Approaching that dreadful sober state) Shortly thereafter Philippe summoned us back to his vessels for a luxurious lunch preceded by a champagne toast. Our steaks were cooked to perfection (rare as we requested) and the conversation and wine flowed effortlessly. The meal was topped off by a chocolate torte and good coffee. In order to work off our oversized lunch we once again took to the water for the 20 yard swim back to the beach. After floating around in the surf for a good hour and collectively solving all the worlds problems it was time to mud ourselves up. The mudding up is always my favorite and worst part of the trip. My favorite because it is such a great culmination of a fantastic day but also my least favorite because it signals the end of the trip. Thanks to Tracy and Philippe we have some great shots of us looking like beached aborigines. (For those who gave us their e-mails we will forward the pics when we return to the states) The sail back was beautiful and our timing was great. Just in time for the wine and cheese party at Papagayos. What a great day! Many thanks to Philippe and his mate and all the couples who made it a memorable day.

The Perfect Day. Yesterday was an absolutely perfect day on Orient Beach. If you woke up one day and god turned over the weather controller to you and you could adjust the dials for sun, temperature, wind, clouds and water temp it, you would set it exactly like the conditions on Orient yesterday. From early morning to late at night the conditions were faultless. Call it sand gravity or being in the right place at the right time, you couldnt ask for anything better. We chose to make it a full beach day and were rewarded with impeccable weather. Combine the environmentals with some of the friendliest people on earth and the day was one for record books. It didnt end with sundown. We joined a Club O party at Kakao beach bar to dance the night away under the stars and the full moon. There is just something about dancing naked under a full moon on the beach that brings out the spirits of our souls. Its as if we somehow connected with all our previous generations through the ages back to a time when technology wasnt even imaginable and the basic elements dominated existence. The walk back on the beach to our chalet under a blindingly bright full moon was a delightful treat. The surf danced and sparkled. Retiring to the chases on our beach front patio we discussed the best part of our trip thus far. We agreed that its the friendliness of the people at Club O who make the trip. We have traveled extensively but have never found a more enjoyable group of people then we find on the beach at Club O. On a more serious note we were told that someone from a cruise ship had a major heart attack and passed away on Orient Beach yesterday. Apparently he was walking the surf when he was stricken. Not in any way to make light of it but I could think of a lot worse ways to leave this world than walking in the surf at Orient. I am sure it is presenting major problems for his family but having seen many relatives expire from a hospital room I am sure from his sake it wasnt a bad way to go. Our hearts go out to his family.
