I would like to know if there is a place at or near Orient Beach where I can rent a cell phone.

| Verizon works well on Orient Beach. Calls are expensive. If your phone has international capabilities, once on the international plan email and Internet usage is free. |

We agree with Funbob. Verizon works well, although a bit expensive. Last few years we didn't even have to register our phone with the local service. Kind of handy when everyone knows your number to begin with.

Club O is now selling pay as you go cell phones, disposable, I don't know the correct term, I think 29-49 E depnding on the minutes......I wish I remember more details, available in the boutique

i rented my phone from unity car rental. about $25/week plus $10 for phone card.
villa "Joie de Vie" - walk to orient beach, it's just a few steps from the villa. |

I know I'm not answering your question, but a person might consider using VOIP on their laptop computer to make calls. There are several different methods of connecting. Some good friends (Charles & Faye) showed us how to connect to any phone in the world for a penny a minute. Last year was a little tough because Club O didn't have high speed internet after switching to WiFi. Now, I think a person has the option to pay extra for high speed. That should make all the difference in the world. If having a cell phone was just a way to call back home, this might be an option.
